About the Foundation

Make a Donation

The Paul and Linda Kahn Foundation was established in December 1997, after a lifetime of devoted and passionate collecting of fine art and the building of perhaps the most complete and significant library of books and ephemera related to the Hawaiian Islands and their history.

In 1991, the Kahn collection of Hawaiian books was sold to the State of Hawaii and presently resides at the State Archives in Honolulu, on the grounds of Iolani Palace.

Even though he had passed his library on to the State and people of Hawaii, Paul Kahn continued to amass Hawaiian materials as part of his lifetime passion.

New projects

If you know of a possible project which would fall within our guidelines and for which public support can be developed, please let us know.

Structure of Projects

Working through committees of interested parties, the foundation provides a means of identifying, funding, and executing projects, benefiting various segments of the public, which otherwise may not be done.

This structure provides a simple means of implementing new projects while offering maximum tax advantage to project supporters.

Projects are expected to be self supporting, deriving their financial support from public and institutional sources. A project's income and expenses are directly accounted for and expenses borne by more than one project are allocated.
